What are your rates?

Evaluations are $360.This includes approximately 60 minutes of direct assessment and a written report. An evaluation performed by another therapist of the same discipline within the last three months may suffice to begin ongoing therapy services. The information must be current and the goals also be relevant and current as determined by the Therapista provider on review of the report. This evaluation must be received before our services can begin.Ongoing therapy is $120/session.We provide individual physical, speech and occupational therapy services at a rate of $120 per session. Therapy sessions include 50 minutes of direct therapy with you and/or your child and 10 minutes for documentation. Therapy sessions are generally provided in your home, but may also be provided in the child’s day care, or another community based setting, such as a park, play group, etc. Therapista does not provide clinic based therapy at this time. A parent or caregiver older than 18 years of age is required to be present during all sessions.

When is payment due?

Visits are scheduled and invoiced one month at a time. An invoice will be sent to you at the beginning of each month and payment is due by the end of each month. At that time, your therapist will schedule visits for the following month.
At this time payment is accepted by check only. Please mail checks to Therapista, 630 Moultrie St., San Francisco, CA, 94110. Therapists do not handle transactions/checks.

In the event that a check is returned by your bank, there is a grace period of 1 week from the time you are notified to make alternate payment arrangements. You will be responsible for any bank fees or charges. Balances past due by more than 30 days will be subject to interest charges of 1.5% per month and services may be stopped at that time.

Do you accept insurance?

We are not contracted with any insurance companies. We do, however, provide you with itemized invoices that include the information you will need to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Many of our clients also use Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), or Health Care Reimbursement Accounts (HCRAs), which allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for medical services not covered by insurance.

Will the school district fund your services?

Some families have been able to get reimbursed by the school district for the private services that we have provided to their children. At this time, we do not contract directly with the school districts themselves.

What documentation do you provide?

Progress Reports are written at 6 month intervals, starting from the time that services with Therapista begin, or every 6 months based on the child’s birth date, or another schedule, as may be requested by you, to coordinate with their school or other providers.

We are happy and eager to collaborate with members of your child’s intervention/medical team. You may request our attendance at meetings (doctor’s visits, IEP, etc.,) and we will attempt to arrange our schedule to be present when possible. Time attending meetings is charged at $120 per hour.

How are holidays and vacations handled?

We believe that vacations and holidays from therapy are often very beneficial to a child and their parents. Please just let us know as soon as possible if you have scheduled a vacation or holiday so that we may adjust our schedules. Schedule permitting, we can try to work with you to make up those missed sessions if desired. In cases of lengthy vacations (e.g. 1 month or greater) we may not be able to hold the therapist’s availability for your child, but we will be happy to accommodate them as soon as the therapist has another opening.

Likewise, our therapists also take personal vacation time. Visits that fall within that time period are generally not rescheduled.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be billed at the full rate. Sessions cancelled with more than 24 hours notice may be rescheduled with no charge. However, we must ensure that the scheduled therapy sessions are consistent so frequent cancellations may result in termination of services in order to accommodate other clients.

What if my child is sick?

Please be aware of our sick policy to ensure that you, your family, and our therapists stay happy and healthy! We often work with children that are medically fragile and we want to avoid being exposed to anything that could be passed along to another child. Please advise your therapist via phone as soon as possible if your child or someone in your household is suffering from a known contagious condition, has an unknown rash, has had a fever within the last 24 hours, is in the initial stages of a cold (likely to be contagious,) has been vomiting or has diarrhea related to an illness. It is important to inform your child’s therapist prior to the visit to avoid exposure “at the door”. We will also take the same courtesy and let you know if your therapist is ill and needs to cancel/re-schedule a visit.
